Silk screening is the process by which enameled coloured paint is applied to the glass through special designed silk screens. translucent patterns can be mechanically transferred to the glass surface prior to toughening.
These patterns are then fired into the glass during the toughening process which makes for an extremely durable hardwearing product which is maintained over the life of the glass. The process by which the paint is transferred to the glass, commonly known as silk screening is semi-automated at Toughglaze. The paint is effectively placed on the glass by first forming a screen which is made up of a very tight mesh with either the holes open or blocked. The paint is then forced through these holes onto the glass in a controlled manner by using different screens. Multiple colours can be applied. |
