ToughGlaze reacted to this market by installing its own laminating facility when regulations changed in 2011 (BS 1680). The demand for toughened laminated changed overnight and continues today. Supported by our toughening plants the laminating line produces glass for balustrades on a daily bases and continuously develop other innovative products.
For a flush external finish with no protruding fittings see section Decorative SGF.
As designers push to eradicate steel/stainless steel structures and fixings, free standing glass keeps pushing forward. With this in mind Toughglaze recommend for every development to seek independent advice via a glass consult to install the correct glass thickness against required loading. It should also be noted that Toughglaze as a matter of principle recommend to have ALL the glass heat soak tested, this is essential when the glass is glazed in acritical area and when supporting the handrail.
Some projects now require decorative panels all of which are available via Toughglaze. Options are set out in this website see decorative products.
