Frequently asked questions

  • What does acoustic glass mean?

Acoustic glass is a type of sound-absorbing glass designed to make your home or business quieter. It consists of two or more sheets of glass bound together with an acoustic interlayer.

  • How does acoustic glass work?

Acoustic glass is built with an interlayer made out of polyvinyl butyral (PVB). This interlayer is laminated between the sheets of glass and absorbs sound – as well as making the overall product that bit tougher.

PVB bonds the sheets together without changing their appearance. Light travels through TG AG as through any other type of glass.

Note that soundproof glazing must be combined with a suitable framing system to be effective.

  • Does acoustic glass look different?

No – your customers and visitors will be none the wiser. Sound-insulating glass reduces noise without altering the look of a building.

  • Is acoustic glass laminated?

Yes – our noise-proof glass is laminated with PVB. This is a kind of resin that binds the glazing together and helps absorb sound.

  • Does acoustic glass reduce noise?

Yes. Acoustic glass is designed to deaden noise, but only when combined with a suitable framing system.
