EN 1063-rated ballistic glass

TG-BR can meet EN 1063 ratings from BR1 to SG2. Here's what that means for you.

EN 1063 is the European standard for bullet-resistant glass. It classifies glass products based on their ability to withstand various threat levels, ranging from BR1 (a .22-calibre long rifle) to SG2 (a 12/70 shotgun).

Good news. You can specify TG-BR to meet any EN 1063 threat level – without significant weight gain or loss of optical clarity. It can also be customised to meet other international standards, such as UL 752, ISO 16935 and BS 5051.

Not sure which rating you need? Please note that theses products are part of an approved system. Please get in touch and our experts will do their best to guide you.

Spall and no-spall options available

Customise your ballistic glass to satisfy all customer requirements.

No two security applications are the same. That's why we offer TG-BR in two distinct versions: "no spall" and "spall allowed".

The difference is simple: choose "no spall" and your glass will come with an extra protective layer on the secure side. This helps contain the dangerous fragments (spall) that are often shed when projectiles impact glass.

Spalling can occur and cause injury even if the glass isn't breached. Our no-spall option helps you deliver maximum protection and peace of mind when people are at risk.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is bulletproof glass made of?

Bulletproof glass is a type of laminated glass. It consists of several layers of glass or polycarbonate joined together with polymer interlayers.

In this sense, bulletproof glass is similar to laminated safety glass – though bulletproof glass is usually thicker and stronger than standard safety glass.

TG BR is among the thinnest and most lightweight bullet-resistant glass products on the market. It's been specially developed to maximise security without compromising clarity or versatility.

  • How does bulletproof glass work?

Typically, bulletproof glass includes a combination of soft and hard layers. This provides significant strength while maintaining flexibility. Because the glass (or polycarbonate) can flex, it's less likely to shatter if a bullet hits.

However, no glass is completely impermeable to ballistic attack. For this reason, bulletproof glass is more properly called "bullet-resistant glass" or "ballistic glass".
