  • Are glass balconies safe?

    UK safety legislation ensures that only "safety glass" – whether toughened or laminated – can be used in the construction of glass balconies. 


    With proper installations, glass balconies should only break when struck with considerable force. When toughened glass breaks, it shatters into small pieces. Laminated glass, by contrast, has a plastic layer sandwiched between two toughened glass panels. This functions as a "safety net".
